This experienced engineering position will lead the design and execution of key automation projects and custom converting equipment to support manufacturing in Foodservice converting plants. The position is part of a world class talented engineering & technical team in the Foodservice Engineering & Product Development Center and will report to the Engineering Manager. JOB FUNCTIONS:
Job functions include, but are not limited to the following. Lead implementation of automation solutions in Foodservice Converting Plants Develop automation solutions for Foodservice plants working with integrators, OEMs, and GPI manufacturing & engineering team members Develop project plans and execute to meet deliverables within budget and schedule Design, develop and coordinate assembly of custom cup converting & automation equipment using internal and external assembly/manufacturing resources Coordinate startup of new equipment and provide support for ongoing production Utilize engineering standards best practices to design parts, subassemblies, and complete custom designed equipment. Facilitate, encourage, promote, and engage in teamwork activities. Other duties as assigned. BACKGROUND /
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years of design experience Minimum of 3 years' experience in design and implementation of industrial automation preferred Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams & project management required Demonstrated experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) is required. Experience sourcing custom fabricated mechanical components is a plus. Supplier knowledge & relationships in industrial automation a plus. People management experience preferred EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required. Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering/Automation/Robotics/Industrial Engineering preferred SKILLS:
Project management skills in executing technical projects Ability to lead cross functional teams and to direct/coordinate activities of internal and external engineering resources Must possess strong computer aided design (CAD) skills. Experience with SolidWorks is a strong plus. Demonstrated ability to apply engineering best practices in the design of mechanical components. Deep understanding of electro-mechanical components, including PLC and drive motor controls required. Must have demonstrated oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to drive multiple concurrent assignments to completion. Must have the ability to be self-directed and manage priorities. SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules in special situations which may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours. Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs. Reading computer screens or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment. KEY COMPETENCIES:

Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
